Liam Casey
Liam's passion for wheel building and cycle maintenance started in the workshop of York Cycle Works back in 2008 at the tender age of 15.
He has gained a Level 3 Cytech certification in bike servicing and building, specialising in mountain bikes, road bikes, electronic drive trains, and E-bikes, but his main passion is for wheel building “ I find building wheels is a very satisfying and therapeutic task, every day I build a wheel is a happy day".
Liam loves experimenting when wheel building and has over 14 years experience of different lacing patterns, from a straight forward radial, 2-cross or 3-cross to the more unusual snowflake pattern.

York Cycle Works was established in 1980 and is a traditional bike shop for today's cyclists. They are a large but friendly independent bike shop situated just outside York's city walls. They stock some of the biggest and best-known cycling brands in the world today, and they pride themselves on their exceptional level of expertise and knowledge across all aspects of cycling. York Cycle Works specialise in bike fitting, custom bike builds, wheel building, bike servicing, and being experienced cycling enthusiasts, they offer 'non-pushy' expert advice on all things bike. They can hand-build budget wheels using Shimano hubs and Mavic rims or can go full-on custom performance building Aeroc wheels featuring DT Swiss hubs and Sapim CX-Ray spokes.
