At AW Cycles we’ve been building custom wheels since 1994. Lewis and Chris, our master wheel builders have over 20 years of experience lacing and tensioning wheels between them.
Every rider has different requirements and needs from their wheels, whether the priority is weight, strength, reliability or a mix of all three. Whilst there are some good pre-built wheel systems on the market, these are not always a suitable choice for every rider, and there’s where a great hand-built wheel comes in.

Established in 1994, AW Cycles have been providing the community in Reading with high-quality bicycles, repairs, wheel building, parts and accessories for over 25 years.
As one of the most respected independent cycle shops in the country, AW Cycles have a vast and varied stock of bicycles including, but not limited to, road racing bikes, mountain bikes, E-Bikes, bikes for commuters, leisure bikes, and children’s bikes. Indeed, from the occasional bicycle rider to the pro-level athlete, we have something for everyone.
We have a fully equipped workshop with 4 full-time mechanics boasting top-level qualifications from Aeroc, Bosch, Cytech, Shimano, Campagnolo, Rocky Mountain, Yamaha and more. We specialise in Carbon wheels and have good working relationships with all the major spoke and rim manufacturers and we are certified to build wheels up to and including Aeroc Master Wheel Builder standards.
