A Different Gear is fortunate to have an experienced team of Master wheel builders, each with a minimum of 10 years of professional wheel building expertise. Having a dedicated team of wheel builders gives them strength in numbers, they love bouncing ideas around sharing their experiences with each other, as well as pushing one another to achieve the best results possible.
Tom Clarke, David Gardner and Neil Cooke are the wheel-building team and thrive off being part of a bike and wheel-building community, especially when they can share their passion with not just the other Pro bike mechanics at A Different Gear, but with Sheffield and the rest of the UK.

A Different Gear specialises in the sale of custom bike builds, custom wheel builds, gravel/adventure bikes, utility e-bikes, e-cargo bikes, reconditioned bikes, and second-hand bike parts. Their qualified mechanics have a breadth of experience enabling them to also offer a wide range of bike and e-bike servicing and repairs.
“We opened our doors back in 1996 as a social enterprise called ReCycle Bikes. Owned by the Heeley Trust charity, the income we generate is proudly invested back into our local community”.
In 2020 they relaunched as A Different Gear and expanded their offering to include bike brands such as Kinesis UK, Bombtrack, Kona, Tern, Benno, Urban Arrow, and Larry vs Harry, as well as key brands such as Apidura, Brooks, Exposure, Garmin, Hope, Sector & Rene Herse and now Aeroc bike wheels.
In 2021 they won the BikeBiz Award for the Best Independent Bike Dealer in the UK.
